The shirts from Space X have been on sale in the United States for more than a year and will be on sale at retailers from April 15, according to Space X’s website.
The shirts come with the slogan “Treat yourself to the best in space” and “The universe is our playground,” according to a Space X official.
“SpaceX has been a leader in developing spaceflight products that have garnered high praise for quality and innovation,” the company said in a statement.
“As a result, we have been the top seller of spaceflight apparel since launching in December 2015.”
The shirts are made in Japan, but the shirts are sold by a subsidiary of Japanese apparel manufacturer Toho Co., which has also been selling space flight apparel.
The Toho shirts feature images of SpaceX astronauts on the front and the logo of the company on the back.
The Toho shirt is available in sizes from 5 to 15, and the Space X shirt is in sizes 4 to 11.
The space agency has been using Space X shirts as a way to advertise the space program, a U.K.-based company that tracks space apparel told CNBC.
“The T-shirt space program is a huge commercial success story, and now they have a huge following,” Mike Brown, CEO of UK clothing company, The Big Shirt, told CNBC on Thursday.
“It is great that they are going to continue that in the future.”
SpaceX says it does not use Toho’s shirts for marketing purposes and said it will remove the Toho-branded shirts from its site.
